The pilot of Silver Threads and Golden Needles was delivered with pro bono support from Lee Archer and Amy Herbert. Meg Humphrey and Nerissa O’Keefe from Merri Health, and Edna Da Silva from Wyndham City Council were key partners in the working group. The North and West Metro Elder Abuse Prevention Networks, supported by the Victorian Government, contributed funding for photography and the launch event. The City of Wyndham contributed in kind venue hire for the launch and funded the costs of easels for the gallery display. We also gratefully received fincial contributions from supporters via GoFundMe, from Elizabeth Phillips with donated craft items, and assistance with framing from Sam Redston and Penny Paul.
Our speakers at the launch, Dr Catherine Barrett (Founder and Director of Celebrate Ageing) and Mandy Strange (Manager Elder Services at Better Place Australia) generously offered their expertise. Breanna Dunbar did a spectacular job with photography.
Lastly, we are so privileged to work with groups of older crafters at Coburg and Brimbank. It was so much fun, and thank you for your kindness and patience working on Silver Threads and Golden Needles pilot.
